Rob Lowe took to Instagram Thursday to slam actress Bella Thorne, after she complained on Twitter that Tuesday’s deadly mudslides, which closed Highway 101 in Montecito and Santa Barbara, had forced her to miss her boyfriend’s concert performance.
“This attitude is why people hate celebrities/Hollywood, Bella,” Lowe said in reference to Thorne’s tweet, which she later deleted. “I’m sorry you were inconvenienced. We will try to move out our dead quicker.”
At least 17 people died in the mudslides that crashed through this coastal enclave earlier this week. Dozens more were missing, with growing concerns that these people won’t be found alive.
The mudslides wiped out entire blocks of Montecito, and forced Caltrans to close Highway 101 in both directions between Carpinteria and Santa Barbara through Monday, public radio station KCBX reported.
The closure of 101 didn’t sit well with Thorne. On late Wednesday afternoon, she tweeted “F—k u 101 so santa Barbra [sic]. I’m missing my boyfriends [sic] first date on his tour.”
Apparently, the 20-year-old, who got her big break on Disney Channel’s “Shake It Up,” hadn’t been checking the news on Wednesday because on Thursday she again tweeted that expletive, followed by what she thought would pass for an apology or a reasonable justification for being ignorant or insensitive.
She wrote, “just caught up on some news had no idea why the 101 was shut down …. get home to your family.”
